APS Teachers Train in CCA Biotechnology Labs
Science teachers learn the latest techniques such as DNA isolation and fingerprinting. Then they take the corresponding laboratory kits back to their schools to teach their students.

Through an outreach program funded by the National Science Foundation, the Community College of Aurora offers hands-on laboratory workshops for high school science teachers.

To date, 28 APS teachers from Aurora Central, Gateway, Hinkley and Rangeview high schools have taken advantage of the program. Interest in biotechnology is sparked when the laboratory kits reach high school students.

CCA's biotechnology labs are located on the Lowry campus. Through this program CCA and APS help develop Colorado's biotechnology workforce.

Students using the lab kits from CCA may be motivated to consider careers in healthcare, agriculture, wildlife biology, law enforcement and forensics.
