APS Students Find Many Ways to Give Back to the Community
Transition Services students sponsor yard sale for the American Stroke Association.
Students from Transition Services recently sponsored a yard sale as part of a community service project.
The yard sale generated more than $900 to donate to the American Stroke Association. This is the first year that the students have sponsored a community service project.
Transition Services provides students with skill development in addition to their academic requirements for graduation. As a result, students are prepared to finish school and enter the adult community.
"This project helped the students in our program understand the concept of community service. People have given to them in so many ways and they just wanted to give back," Transition Services teacher Katy Ortiz said.
