Lansing Staff and Parents: A Team Effort

Lansing Elementary School hosts a breakfast each month to discuss topics that keep parents involved in their students' learning. A parent committee works with staff members to plan the meetings.

Parental involvement is vital to student success, and all APS schools have similar parent programs.

At Lansing, parents assist with the yearbook committee, PTO programs, and vision and hearing screenings.

Spanish-speaking parents are supported by volunteer translator, Ana Wahl, and the Tour Guide System provided by the ELA Department.

Children play and parents listen intently as Principal Jean Burke shares ways to help at Lansing.

Lansing staff is excited about parent involvement and the difference it makes for Lansing students.

"I believe strongly that it is vital for the home and school to work together to provide a quality education for all of our children. I encourage parents to become involved with our schools," said Jean Burke, principal at Lansing.
