The mentors are engineers for the information systems and intelligence division of Raytheon, a government contractor. "Working with us may attract the students to technology fields," said Elena Gonzalez, president of the Raytheon Hispanic Employee Network. "It also gives the students an opportunity to experience how today's school work is applicable in the real world."
In addition to the employees from the Raytheon Hispanic Employee Network, members of the Raytheon Black Employee Network also volunteer at the school. Raytheon has donated new calculators to Gateway and has donated funding for scholarships.
