| Sixth Avenue Elementary students and staff members, past and present, celebrated 50 years of service to the Aurora Public Schools community at an open house on Tuesday. |
Sixth Avenue was one of more than a dozen schools built during the 1950s, a period of rapid growth for Aurora. The Aurora Public Schools started with one grade school in 1892 and has grown into the sixth largest school district in Colorado, serving more than 32,000 students. |
