As part of its grand opening, the Starbucks at Tower and Hampden has partnered with the Aurora Education Foundation to help support literacy in APS. Parents, students and other members of the community sampled free pastries and coffee, and students from Dalton Elementary collected $90 worth of donations for AEF. |

AEF executive director Angela Hutton-Howard and AEF chief governing officer Artie Cowan attended the event as well. Hutton-Howard, pleased with the turnout at the grand opening, saw this event as the “beginning of a great partnership between Starbucks and AEF. They are committed to working with APS to help improve literacy.” |

| The fundraiser is the first of many that Starbucks owner Armando Zapata plans to sponsor with AEF. The business will host regular “Friends and Family” Nights, where students, their parents and others can get together to play games, listen to music, read stories and raise money for literacy programs sponsored by AEF. |
Giving back to the community in this way is part of Starbuck’s commitment to corporate responsibility. But for Zapata, whose son attends Dalton, the commitment is a personal one as well. |
