Around 120 APS parents, community members and APS staff members showed up at the town hall meeting that took place in the Hinkley High School auditorium. Some of the 30 questions that individuals submitted for the discussion focused on closed campuses, professional development for teachers and mathematics instruction.
Members of the Hinkley Student Leadership team and National Honors Society served as Student Ambassadors during the meeting, collecting question and comment cards from the audience.
Superintendent John L. Barry, members of the Board of Education and the APS leadership team had time to answer 15 questions during the formal Q&A period. They then took time afterwards to talk with audience members informally and one-on-one.
Barry, board members and leadership team members look forward to hearing from students, staff and community members at the next town hall meeting, April 26, 6:30 p.m. at Murphy Creek K-8 School.
Board President Matt Cook thanked everyone at the town hall meeting for sharing their views.
"I'm glad we have opportunities like town hall meetings to discuss important issues about APS. We value your input and consider all of your views carefully when making decisions."
