Substitute Special Education Paraeducators Employment Opportunities

We are always looking for substitute special education paraeducators. You can access the job descriptions for the positions for which you might substitute:

In order to become a classified substitute with the Aurora Public Schools, you must complete a classified employment application form.  Application forms must be filled out on-line. If you do not have access to an Internet-connected computer you may use one in the classified office at the ESC - 4 Building, 1085 Peoria Street.  Be certain to include all required support materials; see list below and application form for details.

Clearly indicate on the application form that you want to substitute for special educaton paraeducators .  If you are applying for full-time employment but you are willing to substitute in the meantime, please note that on your application form as well.

Before you can be considered for employment all of the following must be received in the classified employment office:

  • Employment application form
  • Current resume
  • Three current letters of recommendation

    Candidates who have complete applications and who pass an initial background screening, will be invited to periodic orientation meetings to finish employment requirements, including:
  • Substitute orientation and directions
  • Fingerprinting for background check purposes (fee is $49.50 at the substitute’s cost)
  • Hiring packet (forms)
  • Child abuse reporting training

Substitute orientations are by invitation only.
