Our District's Vision and Mission
The vision of the Aurora Public Schools is to graduate every student with the chance to attend college without remediation. To meet the challenge of this vision, our mission is to teach every student the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to enter college or a career and become a contributing member of society who flourishes in a diverse and dynamic world.
“Together we will make Aurora Public Schools the lead district in
Colorado, and we will always do what is best for students.”
– Superintendent John L. Barry
People - Transformational Goals for APS Instruction
The Vista 2010 Plan provides the framework for transforming the Aurora Public Schools into the premiere school district in the state of Colorado. The quality of a student's instruction has the largest effect on his/her achievement and continually improving every staff member's effectiveness is a priority in our district. We believe that the achievement of each and every student can be brought to the highest level through the following transformational goals:
- Ensure all employees are highly qualified and skilled for their positions
- Develop and nurture a professional culture of leadership, integrity and creativity throughout the district
Aurora Public Schools Professional Learning seeks to provide every educator with opportunities to become an even more effective agent for success for our students. By promoting opportunities for study within our own district, through universities in our area, and through online learning, we seek to match our talented staff with professional learning experiences that will transform their instruction.
