John L. Barry Brings Many Resources to APS

Superintendent-elect John L. Barry will bring many assets to APS.  As a graduate of the Broad Academy for Superintendents, Barry will work closely with the APS Board of Education to lead APS and bring in many resources to the APS community at no cost to the district.

Included in the Broad Foundation support are executive advisors who will work with Barry, the board of education, staff and our entire community.  The two advisors, Tom Payzant from Boston Public Schools and Carl Cohn from San Diego Schools bring almost 50 years of superintendent experience to Aurora.

“The Broad Foundation is committed to improving K-12 public education.  Because of my participation in the Superintendents Academy, APS will have direct access to the two finest superintendents in the nation, Tom Payzant and Carl Cohn.  Tom Payzant has agreed to spend multiple weeks over the next year in our district as a strategic advisor and Carl Cohn will participate as part of a four-person, superintendent experienced, team to provide advice during an offsite weekend review.”
