Colorado Distinguished Principal Dianne Dugan Honored in Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Department of Education recently honored Dalton Elementary Principal Dianne Dugan in Washington, D.C. Dugan was selected as one of 60 educators from around the country for the 2006 National Distinguished Principals Award.

The award ceremony began with a cocktail party and reception at the State Department. Later, after dinner at the Presidential Ballroom of the Capitol Hill Hotel, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Raymond Simon awarded each honored principal with a framed certificate and an old-fashioned school bell.
Each principal then shared stories about their school and district. "I enjoyed hearing about what other principals do to support their schools and communities," said Dugan.
Dugan and her husband, Dr. Art Margolis, enjoyed the ceremony and their stay in D.C.
Dugan will be part of a team of previous National Distinguished Principals that will select Colorado's next honored principal for 2007.
