Park Lane Staff, Students Donate Scooter to New Teacher

Students and staff members at Park Lane Elementary school welcomed their new 2/3 grade teacher Ruth Smith with a brand new set of wheels.

Busy days of teaching and getting her students to and from specials, lunch and recess left Smith, a little person, absolutely worn out at the end of the day.

"The teachers and other staff members here at Park Lane decided to organize a donation campaign to purchase a motorized scooter for Ruth. We thought it would be a great way to support her in the classroom."
- Judy Griswold
Park Lane Elementary principal

Staff members held a bake sale during school to raise money, and parents Desire Motley and Angela Riley secured a generous donation from the Stapleton Wal-Mart.
Park Lane students and staff members used the combined donations to purchase a brand-new electric scooter for Smith to use in the hallways. They presented the gift to her during a school-wide celebration.
