Educational Giant Tom Payzant Visits APS

More than 300 APS staff members filled the auditorium at Hinkley High School recently to learn from an educational giant.  Thomas Payzant, former superintendent of Boston Public Schools and advisor to Superintendent John Barry, spoke to staff members on several educational topics. He also answered questions from the audience.

While superintendent of Boston Public Schools, the district won the $1 million Broad prize. The Broad Prize is an annual award that honors the country's urban school districts that are making the greatest improvements in student achievement while reducing achievement gaps.

Payzant is now a senior lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is also a member of the commission that created the report, "Tough Choices for Tough TimesThis file is available in Adobe Acrobat format. Visit adobe.com for the latest Adobe Reader.," about the skills the American workforce must have to compete globally.
