APS Students Shoot Hoops with Denver Nuggets

Students from 10 APS schools had the opportunity to play basketball recently with Denver Nuggets players. Five players, including Andre Miller and Julius Hodge, conducted mini-clinic, posed for pictures with students and offered students tips from their “Read to Achieve" program.

Nearly 150 students participated in this event as part of the Aurora Education Foundation student rewards program, which is based on attendance, citizenship and scholarship at their schools.

The students also received tickets to a Denver Nuggets game, a Nuggets T-shirt and goody bags filled with school supplies.

“Each year, many APS students have the opportunity to participate in this clinic.  It is an exciting chance to meet professional athletes who have succeeded on the court and in the classroom.”

“I liked running up and down the court and dribbling the ball.  We learned how to protect the ball.  This was the best day!”
