From first graders to freshmen, APS students started the 2006-07 school year on August 15.
They walked, rode the bus and got rides from family members to start their first day of school. They met new teachers in new classrooms and began to make new friends.
Sophomores, juniors and seniors began August 16. Most kindergarten students will start their first year at school on August 22.
Superintendent Barry visited students at several schools. Paris second graders weren't sure what it means to be superintendent. Barry explained it this way:
"You know your principal who works with all the teachers, cafeteria staff and everyone else at the school? Well, think of me as a principal of the principals."
Students clearly understood Barry's role at that point when they let out a loud "Wow!" in response.
"That's a big job," said one second-grade student.
