As part of their new Adopt-a-School program, Aurora Central High School teachers and volunteers mentored 32 Crawford Elementary students. |

Under the direction of Central art teachers Victoria Schleyer and Polly Hedges and Crawford art teacher Sharon Smith, Crawford students got a chance to draw, paint and color using professional art equipment. |

At the end of the event, the Crawford students took time to reflect on and write about their artistic experience in a high school setting. |

Dean Stecklein, principal of Aurora Central High School, said that this Adopt-A-School activity is the first of many planned throughout the year. Other programs in the works include soccer and wrestling camps run by high school varsity players and a drama program for elementary school students. |
