Students Lunch with Superintendent Barry Before Heading to D.C.

Over pizza and breadsticks, Superintendent Barry recently shared his ties to Washington D.C. with 13 students at Aurora Frontier K-8. After fundraising all school year, these students are heading to the nations capitol in June for a four-day adventure to visit Arlington National Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial and many other historical sites.

Barry shared his work experience in the Pentagon, meeting American Presidents and his work at the Air and Space Museum.  Students learned first-hand what Barry experienced at the Pentagon during the terrorist attacks on 9/11.  Barry told students about meeting President George H. Bush and sharing their stories about their time as pilots.

“We were very fortunate to have him share his knowledge and experience with us. I saw the students light up when they were making the connections from their social studies class to what Superintendent Barry was sharing.”
