Gateway High School students packed the school auditorium to witness the Colorado Supreme Court’s first visit to their school. The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in two cases, giving students a real-life lesson in the judicial process.

Colorado Sen. Suzanne Williams, State Rep. Nancy Todd, and APS board members Jane Barber, Jeanette Carmany, Judy Edberg and Susan Tabacheck also attended the Supreme Court's visit.

“This was a tremendous opportunity to make learning come alive for our students. An experience like this shows them how the law can impact their lives. At the same time, it’s a call to action. Students gain a better understanding of our government and their responsibility as citizens.”
- Jill Eden
Gateway High School Teacher

“It’s a great experience for students like me who are thinking about law careers. I learned a lot about how the justices really have to focus on the facts and keep their feelings out of it.”
- Dantjer Gordon

“I was impressed with how well-prepared the students were to hear the arguments and participate. They had many good questions and insights.  Having the opportunity to spend time with students is a very rewarding part of my job.”
