Rangeview Students March in the Big Apple

Three Rangeview High School students proudly marched down Broadway in New York City as part of the Great American Marching Band in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Emily Hatfield, Andrew Lesher and Kali Kennedy were three of only four Colorado students selected to participate in the 250-piece band.

Rangeview Band Director Randy Gregory nominated the students for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. "These students represented our school and community in a first-class manner. Aurora should be proud!" Gregory said.

While in New York the students visited the Empire State Building, ate at Planet Hollywood and even saw the Christmas Spectacular Show at Radio City Music Hall.

"I am so lucky I got to experience something like this. The sight of New York City was awesome. I thought that downtown Denver was cool, but little did I know, New York City was even better."

They also spent a lot of time practicing with the band. "Even though we were exhausted, this was the trip of a lifetime," student Kali Kennedy said.
